The TERENA Networking Conference 2003 will take place in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, situated at the foot of the Medvednica Mountain on the banks of the river Sava. An ancient city of 770,000 inhabitants, Zagreb is located in the very heart of Europe, on the border between the Mediterranean, Central Europe and the European Southeast. As well as being the administrative and political centre of Croatia, it is also the cultural and scientific centre, with the Academy of Arts and Sciences (founded in 1861), the university (founded in 1669), the Institute of Nuclear Physics, an observatory as well as fine museums and art galleries.

The conference will be held in the Congress Centre of the Hotel Opera, which is located in the heart of the city overlooking major cultural and historical attractions. The hotel is only a short stroll away from elegant shops, delightful parks, tree-lined streets and open spaces, and just five minutes walking distance from the business district and ten minutes from the main railway station.

Zagreb has a modern international airport served by most major European airlines including British Airways, KLM, Austrian Airlines, Air France, Lufthansa, Aeroflot and Croatian Airlines.

More information can be found at the Croatian Tourist Board website, the official website of Croatia, and a convention website with some interesting information.
